National Night Out is a national event that provides an opportunity for bringing police and residents together under positive circumstances and promotes positive relationships. The event showcases safety forces and the community coming together against crime.

Some area police departments will be having events today, including:

• Liberty police, 6:30 p.m. with a parade on Shady Road to the LYRIC Center parking lot off Churchill Road. Children and adults can decorate bikes in red, white and blue and be in parade with lineup at 6:15 p.m. by Guy School. At 7 p.m. will be police dog demonstration, drone demonstration, 910th Airlift Wing, car show, games, music and outdoor movie.

• Vienna police, 6 p.m. the fire station, state Route 193. Police and fire demonstrations, basket raffles, music and free food.
