Man accused of domestic violence, threatening officers
AUSTINTOWN — A township man accused of domestic violence and intimidation toward a police officer will be in Mahoning County Court in Austintown today to answer the charges in a video arraignment.
Austin Dunmire, 24, of 204 Westminster Ave., is facing two counts of intimidation, two counts of assault and domestic violence following a Sunday incident.
According to a police report, officers were called to the address about 2:22 a.m. When police arrived, they were met with people saying someone was “screaming bloody murder.”
The report states police spoke with the victim who said while on their way home, a man became irate with the victim and punched her in the face while she was driving. The report states the man continued yelling at her and hit her several more times.
The report states the victim took her daughter inside their residence and gave them to her parents. The man followed her inside and, when her parents tried to intervene, started to hit all three. Another female victim said the man grabbed her by the throat. The report states the man hit the first female victim “several more times” before leaving.
As officers were leaving the residence, Austintown dispatch received a call from a concerned citizen at GetGo, 5163 Mahoning Ave., about a man who fit Dunmire’s description saying, “I’m gonna kill that (expletive) tonight,” and, “I’m going to jail tonight.”
Police found the man, who was eventually identified as Dunmire, and arrested him. While in custody, Dunmire became combative and kicked the cruiser and and started hitting his head off of a window, a report states. He also said he wanted to harm police, the report states. The tirade and threats continued until paramedics gave Dunmire a 200-mg dose of ketamine.
The report states Dunmire was taken to St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital and was then taken to Mahoning County jail. Jail records show he is being held on $22,000 bond.
