Teen charged after fleeing from police
BOARDMAN — A boy, 15, was charged with failure to comply and receiving stolen property after he was apprehended following a 2:30 a.m. chase that began on Interstate 680 in Boardman.
The vehicle was stolen.
There were four other boys in the car, and they also were apprehended, the Ohio State Highway Patrol said.
A state trooper tried to make a traffic stop on the vehicle on I-680 south near Boardman-Poland Road at 2:34 a.m., but the vehicle kept going. At South Avenue, troopers called off the pursuit for safety reasons.
The Boardman Police Department set up stop sticks in the roadway at South and Indianola avenues, immobilizing the vehicle and allowing the juveniles to be apprehended.
The driver, who also had an active warrant for his arrest, was taken to the Mahoning County Juvenile Justice Center.
