YOUNGSTOWN -- The Mahoning County Coroner's Office has identified the man shot to death Friday evening in the 100 block of Seneca Street on the North Side as Cornell Kennedy Jr., 18.

Police were called to the scene a little after 7 p.m. and found Kennedy's body on the road with a crowd gathering. Multiple gunshots were heard around the time of the killing, police said.

The coroner's office also on Wednesday identified the man shot to death early Tuesday outside the Savo Bar and Grille, 2800 South Ave. on the South Side as Abdul Muhammad, 30. His death marks the 15th homicide of the year.

Youngstown police said an officer working at the bar heard gunfire and came outside at closing time and saw two victims. One was Muhammad; the other victim, a man, 26, was taken to the hospital for treatment.

In another gun incident, a Youngstown police report released Tuesday states a Struthers man, 34, suffered a gunshot wound to the stomach at 6 p.m. Monday. The man said he was walking down Shehy Street on the East Side when he heard six or seven gunshots.

A person in a car stopped and told the victim he was bleeding and asked him if he wanted a ride. The victim got a ride to St. Elizabeth Boardman Hospital. From there, he was flown by helicopter to St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital, police said. That victim was listed in stable condition.
