BOARDMAN — Dr. Daniel P. Barton, who was accused of assaulting another physician at St. Elizabeth Boardman Hospital in April, no longer is charged.

The alleged victim advised Mahoning County Assistant Prosecutor Mike McBride that he or she wanted the charge dismissed, and McBride filed a motion asking for the dismissal.

Barton, of Poland, was scheduled for trial Tuesday before Judge Joseph Houser, who presides over Mahoning County Boardman Area Court.

The judge approved the dismissal Tuesday. Barton still is required to pay court costs of $211. The Mercy Health Police Department filed the assault charge April 21.
