Woman facing 3 counts in shooting

Charged with complicity to attempt murder

YOUNGSTOWN — Toni M. Davis, 20, of Youngstown, is likely to be arraigned today on three counts of complicity to attempted murder in the May 7 shooting of a girl, 17, and two women, ages 18 and 19.

Davis was arrested Wednesday at the Youngstown Police Department and taken to jail. A warrant for her arrest was issued earlier in the day Wednesday.

The charges are in connection to the juvenile being shot in the neck at around 7 p.m. May 7 and found at a home in the 100 block of Willis Avenue on the South Side. She was taken to St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital.

Meanwhile, the two other female gunshot victims arrived at the hospital with gunshot wounds. All three victims were expected to survive their injuries.

Davis is accused of being involved in the shootings, but neither of the police reports on the incident explains what role she played.

Nor have police explained the role of city man Shawta T. Hasley, 25, who was arraigned Wednesday in Youngstown Municipal Court on three counts of attempted murder in the case.

Police arrested him Wednesday on three counts of attempted murder after police made a traffic stop on him on the South Side. Bond was set at $1.5 million and Hasley remains in the Mahoning County jail.

A message written by the mother of the 17-year-old victim on the GoFundMe website says the girl was shot twice in the neck and spine and will need a great deal of physical therapy to help her start walking again. She wrote that her daughter was on a breathing machine.
