City man facing 5 child sex charges

Jason S. Huffman, 48, of North Hartford Avenue in Youngstown was arraigned Monday in U.S. District Court, Cleveland, on five sex charges involving minors.

He also was arrested Monday after being indicted earlier. His indictment became public after his arrest.

It states that Huffman is accused of transporting child pornography through interstate or foreign means, such as a computer, from April 20, 2015, through about July 26, 2017; enticing a minor to engage in sexually explicit conduct July 26, 2017; transporting child pornography Aug. 7, 2019; enticing a minor to engage in sexually explicit conduct Aug. 5, 2019; and possessing child pornography on a cellphone Feb. 17, 2021.

Law enforcement officers arrested Huffman in February after members of the Mahoning County Human Trafficking Task Force searched his home on the West Side. He was charged with 13 offenses resulting from that search, which was prompted by a tip.

Huffman’s charges were dismissed on Monday at the request of county prosecutors at the same time Huffman’s federal indictment was unsealed.
