AUSTINTOWN — A collaboration between Canfield Rotary and Boak and Sons Inc. will lead to a special type of garage sale today.

Between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. at the commercial and residential contractor’s location at 75 Victoria Road in Austintown, people can look through a warehouse of donated goods and get them at no cost.

More than half of the 30,000-square foot building is filled with items, said Sam Boak, owner of the company.

The idea of the “sale” came from Boak, said Ted Gavozzi, president of Canfield Rotary, of which Boak is a member.

Boak and Sons wanted a way to team up with the Rotary as well as serve the community.

“It’s our job to give back,” Boak said.

Gavozzi explained a group of people will be let in each half hour, and given a box to fill as they peruse for 30 minutes. Also each half hour, volunteers will restock inventory.

There will also be two drawings each half hour for two $50 gift cards to Dollar General, Boak added. A concession stand will also be at the location.

Gavozzi said while this is the first event of its kind, everyone involved is taking notes to see what works. If anything, it would be pushed back later in the year in 2022.
