Woman accused of threatening, kicking officers during arrest

LIBERTY — A woman is in Trumbull County jail after police say she was combative when officers tried arresting her on a warrant.

Caitlyn Collier, 28, who has addresses listed in Niles and New Wilmington, Pa., is facing charges including felony assault on a police officer.

Liberty police conducted a traffic stop about 4:50 p.m. Thursday, after learning Collier had an active warrant for probation violation. When officers made contact with her, she identified herself and was told she was going to be arrested on the warrant, a police report stated.

Collier became argumentive and tried getting back into her vehicle, the report states. She tried pulling away from officers, but was eventually detained. Officers told her she was being charged with resisting arrest.

Collier continued being combative, telling officers “numerous times that her name was not Caitlyn Collier.” The report states she could not provide her Social Security number and did not have any form of identification. Officers checked her wallet and found bank and credit cards belonging to Collier. This led to an additional obstruction of official business charge.

When officers tried speaking with Collier, she tried getting out of the police cruiser and told an officer she was “going to (expletive) kill him,” the report states — and tried kicking him in the groin.

The officer was able to deflect the kick and wound up getting kicked in the leg, leading to charges of aggravated menacing and assault on a police officer. While searching Collier’s vehicle, officers say they found drug paraphernalia.

Collier was then transported to the jail.

She appeared in Girard Municipal Court at 9 a.m. Friday and pleaded not guilty to the misdemeanor charges. Collier will be back in court at 9 a.m. Wednesday. She is being held in jail on $20,000 bond.
