Playground donation to help Hilltop students make friends

CANFIELD — Students at Hilltop Elementary School in Canfield may be small, but they have huge hearts.
The school has added a “Buddy Bench” this year, thanks to a donation from Kelly Bruner, mother of Hilltop student Jeremiah Bruner.
Students who feel lonely on the playground can go to the buddy bench and another student will come to the bench to ask the child to talk or play.
“We hope this bench will foster new friendships and teach empathy to students,” Principal Mike Flood said.
