Man arrested after shots fired last week

BOARDMAN — An arrest has been made after shots were fired last week in Boardman and a house was searched Wednesday.

Kyrese North, 20, is charged with tampering with evidence, trafficking in drugs and obstructing official business, Boardman police Chief Todd Werth said.

Officers were dispatched about 8:50 p.m. April 16 to 125 Shadyside Drive after receiving reports of several gunshots. There were no injuries, but three bullet holes were found in a house across the street.

A perimeter was established by law enforcement and several juveniles were called out of the house by officers.

Witnesses told police after hearing the gunshots, several individuals ran from the side of the house into the residence. Officers searched the house after obtaining consent and found shell casings and ammunition from at least four types of weapons, the police department confirmed.

No guns were found in or around the home.

One juvenile was found to have an active arrest warrant and was taken to the juvenile justice center in Youngstown. The remaining five juveniles were turned over to parents or guardians.

Detectives with the Boardman Police Department continued investigating the shooting, obtaining a search warrant for the house on Shadyside Drive, which was executed Wednesday morning, according to Werth.

After the department’s narcotics enforcement unit secured the residence, officers watching the back of the residence observed North opening the rear upstairs window, throwing a Glock model 44 pistol to the ground. Multiple bags of marijuana totaling 100.8 grams, a scale, and $203 were found during the search.

Additional charges for North are pending and the investigation is ongoing, police said.
