NORTH LIMA -- A person died in a 10:30 a.m. single-vehicle crash Tuesday in Beaver Township on state Route 626 southbound at state Route 164 / South Avenue.
The 2020 Chevrolet Malibu traveled off the right side of the road, which is also known as Woodworth Road, struck a culvert and came to rest in a ditch. The vehicle caught fire and was extinguished by the Beaver Township Fire Department.
The driver of the vehicle was dead upon the arrival of first responders. The person was not wearing a seat belt. His or her name is being withheld pending notification of relatives.
Beaver Township fire Chief Larry Sauerwein said the crash was just north of Route 164 near a new roundabout. The Mahoning County Coroner's Office came to the scene, and the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating.
