YOUNGSTOWN -- Police reported two shootings and a stabbing over the weekend in the city.
A man also was charged with domestic violence after a woman said he threatened to kill her and two babies while driving them wildly in a car.
Police were called to the 500 block of East Midlothian Boulevard at 1:58 a.m. Sunday for a stabbing and learned it took place in the 3700 block of Sunset Boulevard at 7 p.m. Saturday and the caller went to a gas station on Midlothian to call police early Sunday.
The victim, a man, 61, said a woman,45, told him he was disrespecting her and that she was not going to take it anymore. She then walked into the living room with a steak knife and swung it at the man, a police report states. He said he tried to block it, but it hit him in the back.
The woman looked at the wound and put a bandage on it, the man said. They relaxed a while, but she continued to threaten him, the man said. Then she picked up a box cutter and a baseball bat and told him to stop disrespecting her. This time the man walked across the street to the gas station and called police.
He said he did not call police right after the stabbing because he did not want the woman to get into trouble.
When police arrived, they saw that the man had a deep laceration on his back. Ambulance personnel treated the wound, but the victim refused transport to the hospital.
No charges are on file yet in Youngstown Municipal Court.
The woman was arrested and taken to the county jail.
At 7 p.m. Sunday, police were called to East Boston Avenue at Shirley Road on the South Side for a two-car crash with injuries.
When police arrived, they found a city woman, 21, crying and holding a baby who was crying and bloody.
She said her ex-boyfriend, the father of her two kids, Frederick S. Dennis, 27, came over to her home in 400 block of Ferndale and wanted to take the kids. She didn't want him to have the kids because of the way he had been acting recently, she said.
Dennis put the kids -- ages 1 month and 10 months -- into the woman's friend's car in the driveway and took the keys. She jumped into the car so he would not be alone with the children, she said. He was driving fast and swerving and stating that he was going to kill everyone, she said.
The front passenger wheel broke off, causing the car to hit a car in front of them, police said. Dennis was taken to St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital for treatment of injuries he suffered in the crash and because he was banging his head on the inside of the cruiser, police said.
The woman signed a domestic violence form, and Dennis was arrested at the scene for domestic violence and two counts of child endangering and taken to the Mahoning County jail.
The children were checked at the scene and not transported to the hospital. The report does not mention whether anyone was hurt in the other vehicle.
Dennis was arraigned Monday on felony domestic violence, two counts of misdemeanor child endangering and one count of failure to maintain assured clear distance.
At 9:30 p.m. Saturday, police were called to the 100 block of East Indianola Avenue for a report of a home being struck by gunfire.
When police arrived, they found no damage to the home, but police spoke with a family in a nearby back yard. A man there said he heard gunfire, but it came from Shady Run Road and Cornell Avenue. The man said he saw people in two dark-colored vehicles shooting at each other.
When police checked that area, they found three spent bullet casings.
