WEATHERSFIELD -- A Warren man accused of burglary will appear before a grand jury after his case was bound over to Trumbull Common Pleas Court.
Brian Strickland, 35, of 22 Indian Trail, was arrested April 2 after walking into a Weathersfield home.
According to a police report, Weathersfield police were called to a home in the 20 block Hickory Lane about 9:57 p.m. after Strickland walked into a house. A woman was in the living room area of the home at the time and told police he opened the door and walked in. The report states the woman screamed and her dog leapt off the couch toward Strickland, to which he quickly left the home.
The woman woke up her boyfriend who was sleeping at the time and told him she feared for her life. The boyfriend told police he went to the front door and "observed a skinny white male who looked like a drug user picking up trash on the side of their house," the report states.
The boyfriend asked what Strickland was doing and Strickland replied "my dad told me to come be productive so that's what I'm doing," the report states.
According to the report, Strickland then headed down Hickory Lane toward the lake, where he was spotted by police. The officers were advised Strickland had a warrant for his arrest for probation violation, and he was detained. Strickland denied entering the home, telling police he was just "out and about."
Strickland was later taken to Trumbull County Jail. He appeared in Niles Municipal Court before Judge Christopher Shaker where bond was set at $500,000. His bond is continued and he will appear in common pleas court at a later date.
