Weathersfield meetings move to in person

WEATHERSFIELD — After almost a year of virtual meetings, township trustees say they will return to in-person sessions.

Weathersfield Town-ship on its social media page said “the board of trustees is pleased to announce that beginning next month they will resume in-person meetings at the administration building.”

Trustee Chairman Steve Gerberry said he is glad to see the move to in-person and believes this is a step toward normalcy during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“I think it’s good for us as elected officials that we’re able to see and be with each other. I think it would make things run a little smoother for us,” Gerberry said. “Hopefully this is a good first step to get us back to where we were before.”

With the shift back to in-person meetings, precautions will be taken by the trustees to ensure safety of anyone in attendance. Gerberry said they will limit the number of people who can attend. He also said other trustees and department heads have the option to attend virtually.

“Historically, the attendance from residents isn’t high during this time of year so I think this is the right time to make the move,” Gerberry said.

Trustees had met via Zoom. The next township trustee meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. March 9.
