MCCTC fire program gets $400K state check
CANFIELD — The Mahoning County Career and Technical Center’s firefighting and safety curriculum program received a $400,000 check from the state’s capital budget.
State Rep. Al Cutrona, R-Canfield, presented the check Monday to MCCTC officials.
MCCTC will use the money to add a classroom to its new fire training facility at its Canfield campus, which also includes a fire tower and a building to store fire engines and gear.
The fire tower project allows both high school and adult education students to be trained in fighting fires. It also is used for live burns, and search-and-rescue missions.
The Mahoning Valley received more than $3 million from the state’s capital budget to invest in schools, infrastructure, public services and community projects.
