Youngstown man charged in incident at Speedway

LIBERTY — A Youngstown man remains in the Trumbull County Jail after he was accused of threatening to shoot workers at Speedway, 4210 Belmont Ave.

Timothy O. Riley, 30, of Florida Avenue, was arraigned Monday on charges of assault, aggravated menacing, resisting arrest and inducing panic in connection with the incident Saturday at the gas station.

Girard Municipal Judge Jeffrey Adler set Riley’s bond at $12,500. He is due back in court Wednesday.

According to a police report, a customer at Speedway just before 5 p.m. threatened to come back and shoot the workers. One worker told police the man became mad after he was asked to show an ID and started to throw chips and other items at the workers who were behind the protective glass at the front counter.

The man, after found and identified, was taken to St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital for treatment, the report states.
