YOUNGSTOWN — City police responded to a shooting in the 400 block of Chicago Avenue that left a man dead.

According to a report, police were sent to Chicago Avenue on a call about a shooting about 11:40 a.m. Thursday. When they arrived, they found a man in his late 30s in the middle of the street dead from multiple gunshot wounds.

The report states the police crime lab recovered a large number of shell casings.

The shooting is under investigation. If the coroner rules the death a homicide, it would mark the city’s 27th of 2020.

Also in the report, police were dispatched to the 400 block of West Evergreen Avenue, just three blocks from where the body was found. Gunfire was being investigated there as well.
