Canfield schools recognized for special education

CANFIELD — For the sixth consecutive year, the Canfield Local School District has received the highest rating from The Ohio Department of Education in the special education annual rating, as well as the special education profile.

“Our staff is to be commended for their outstanding efforts in meeting the needs of our students with special abilities for six consecutive years,” Superintendent Joe Knoll said.

The rating is based on compliance with the Individual with Disabilities Education Act as well as the performance of students with disabilities.

No findings of noncompliancy were found, nor were required remedial actions within the special education profile, which shows a district’s progress over time in meeting goals for students with disabilities.

John Vitto, special services director said: “This finding from the Ohio Department of Education solidifies that we are committed to our vision which states: ‘We will create an educational environment which challenges each student to achieve at their highest potential…'”
