WARREN — A 26-year-old city resident is being held in the Trumbull County jail on charges of rape, domestic violence, burglary and disruption of public service.

Justin Cruz, 215 Hazelwood Ave. SE., had his first appearance before Girard Municipal Court Judge Jeffrey Adler on Friday.

Cruz was arrested around 10:30 p.m. Thursday on the charges in connection with the Aug. 8 assault of a 26-year-old woman who lives in an apartment on the 3000 block of Green Acres Drive in Liberty.

A warrant for Cruz’s arrest was issued on Aug. 10.

During his court appearance, Adler assigned a $250,000 bond. A court order states that Cruz is not allowed to be within 1,000 feet of the assault victim.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled to take place Wednesday before Judge Adler.

According to county records, Cruz since 2015 has been arrested on charges that include domestic violence, obstructing justice, having weapons under disability and aggravating menacing.
