Minor injuries in plane crash

SEBRING — Investigations are ongoing after a small plane crashed Friday in Smith Township.

Jonathan Sprague, 23, of Salem, had minor injuries after a plane he was flying experienced difficulties, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

At 8:15 p.m., Sprague landed the single engine Piper Cherokee 140 in a cornfield off Courtney Road after the plane stalled at 1,000 feet.

He was flying southbound from Skeets Airport in Warren, traveling to Tri-City Airport in Sebring.

Sprague had minor injuries but did not need medical attention.

The Federal Aviation Administration is handling the investigation with the aircraft, while OSHP is overseeing the crash probe.
