Ivanka stumps today in Canfield

CANFIELD — Ivanka Trump will campaign today at the Mahoning County Career and Technical Center on behalf of her father, President Donald Trump.

Ivanka, a White House adviser, is scheduled to speak at noon at the center, 7300 N. Palmyra Road, Canfield. People who register online before the event will be allowed to enter starting at 10:30 a.m.

To get tickets, go online to donald jtrump.com/events. People are allowed to register up to two tickets per cellphone number.

U.S. Sen. Rob Portman, a Cincinnati-area Republican, also will speak at the event.

Portman didn’t vote for Trump in the 2016 election — opting instead to vote for Mike Pence. Portman has since embraced the president and is among numerous Republican officials to serve as co-chairs of Trump’s Ohio re-election committee.

There was confusion over the location of Ivanka’s visit today.

Reports of an event with Ivanka came out a few days ago, but it wasn’t until Thursday that the campaign officially announced the stop but without a specific location. The location wasn’t disclosed until Friday.

This will be the second campaign visit by one of Trump’s children in Mahoning County this week.

Donald Trump Jr., the president’s oldest son, had a Monday rally at The Maronite Center in Youngstown with about 400 in attendance.

Polls show a close race between Trump and Democrat Joe Biden in Ohio.

Meanwhile, the president will make four stops today in Pennsylvania.

The closest one is at 5:30 p.m. in Butler, Pa., at the Pittsburgh-Butler Regional Airport, 473 Airport Road.

To get up to two tickets per cellphone number for that rally, go to donaldjtrump.com/events.

Polls taken in the past four days in Pennsylvania shows Biden with a lead over Trump of between 5 and 8 percent.
