Bond set at $750,000 in Campbell killing

CAMPBELL — Bond and a preliminary hearing date have been set for a man accused in a Monday morning killing.

Bond is set at $750,000 for Charles Jennings, 28, who faces a murder charge. He is accused by police of fatally shooting Quincy Little, 27, in a domestic dispute.

Jennings also is charged with violation of a protection order or consent agreement and breaking and entering, according to Mahoning County jail records.

The shooting happened before 2 a.m. Monday outside 30 Woodland Ave.

Police Chief Patrick Kelly confirmed that Jennings was a new boyfriend of Little’s ex-girlfriend.

Little and the woman, who have been “on and off” for about nine years, have children together, who were home at the time of the shooting but were unharmed, Kelly said.

Investigators are still trying to piece together what happened, but it appears the dispute began in the garage and ended up in the street, Kelly said.

Attorney Jerry Ingram, who is representing Jennings, said the shooting may have happened in self-defense. He declined to elaborate, due to the ongoing investigation.

Jennings is due back in court at 9 a.m. on Oct. 29 for a preliminary hearing.

The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation is assisting in the investigation.
