Traffic signals get removed downtown

YOUNGSTOWN — Six downtown traffic signals are being deactivated because decreased traffic in the areas no longer merit the devices.

The decision was made almost two years ago to remove the devices as part of a major overhaul of downtown streets. Some of the signals have been disabled while others will be removed in a few weeks.

The intersections are:

• West Front and South Phelps streets

• East Front and Walnut streets

• West Front and Marshall streets

• Wick Avenue and Wood Street

• Wick and Lincoln avenues

• Wick Avenue and University Plaza.

Most of the intersections will get stop signs.
