Mahoning County communities get $8.2M in relief

The funds will be distributed to localities on a per-capita basis

YOUNGSTOWN — Communities in Mahoning County will receive an additional $8,240,762 in COVID-19 relief funds to offset costs directly caused by the pandemic.

The Ohio House approved a bill to allocate $650 million in federal COVID-19 funding to local governments. It was previously approved by the Senate.

The funds will be distributed to localities on a per-capita basis.

Youngstown is getting the most money, $2,359,224.

Other communities receiving large amounts are:

Boardman, $1,299,556;

Austintown, $1,256,891;

Poland Township, $426,483;

Struthers, $364,357;

Canfield Township, $296,250;

Campbell, $280,538;

Canfield city, $258,593;

Beaver, $230,304;

Springfield, $230,016
