Man arrested after Lordstown traffic stop
BOARDMAN — A man accused of involvement in a stabbing last week was taken into custody over the weekend.
Police said Orlando Matos-Carrillo was arrested after Lordstown village police officers conducted a traffic stop for erratic driving.
Matos-Carrillo is due in Mahoning County Court in Boardman today on a felonious assault charge. A police report states he admitted to stabbing a man on July 30, claiming self-defense after allegedly being stabbed on his right knee, a report states.
Matos-Carrillo stated he did not seek medical attention because he did not want to go to jail.
Police officers had responded to a call on South Schenley Avenue in Boardman on July 30 of a man saying he was stabbed. Police say that Matos-Carrillo left the scene prior to their arrival.
