Woman says man tried to break in

YOUNGSTOWN — A city woman reported at 11:14 p.m. Thursday that a man she had been dating tried to break into her home on East Dewey Avenue and was destroying things.

The woman, 31, said she had a protection order against the man in the past. She said her refusal to come to the door of the home to talk to him infuriated him, causing him to strike the driver’s side front window and left front headlight of her car with a hammer, a police report states.

He also tried to break into her home by using a tool to strike the front glass door, damaging it and threatened to harm her, she said.

He fled in a white Chevrolet work van, she said.
