Man shot Sunday at South Side Shell gas station is in stable condition

YOUNGSTOWN — A police report states a city man, 27, was in stable condition at St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital after being shot at the Shell gas station, 3200 Market St., Sunday night and driving himself to the hospital.

Police were called to the gas station at 10:43 p.m. Police found blood between two of the gas pumps and learned the shooting was captured on surveillance video.

Video showed the victim pulled up to a pump, got out and received something from someone in a sport utility vehicle, then walked to another vehicle parked at the station and reached inside the driver’s side window.

The driver of the third vehicle pulled out a gun and fired at the victim, who ran away and fell down, police said. The suspect fled, but two females in his vehicle got out and walked toward the victim as he was getting into his vehicle. The victim then drove off.

The victim had an active warrant out of Mahoning County for heroin possession and cocaine possession.
