Cafaro Foundation awards 32 scholarships

The trustees of the Cafaro Foundation are awarding scholarships to 32 students from Ohio and Pennsylvania. That is the most scholarships the foundation has granted in one year.

Winners will receive a total of $87,000 to help them advance their college or high school educations.

Trustees of the foundation selected the scholarship recipients based primarily on the studentsá academic merit, while also considering their financial need and the recommendations of teachers and guidance counselors.

The William M. and Alyce Cafaro Scholarship was awarded to Cameron Resatar, of Hubbard.

Winners of John A. Cafaro Scholarships are Danna Atway, Tyler Beck, Leanne Brown, Alexa Chieffo, Ashlyn Cleevely, Kaelyn Cleevely, Morgan Cleevely, Evan Economos, Andrew Gerchak, Alexis Gonda, Caitlyn Helt, Courtney Hughes, Hannah Johns, Allison Khalil, Jessica Khalil, Farrah Mancino, Kaitlyn McCarthy, Isabella Minotti, Gregory Morgione, Kacie Mosora, Katarina Partika, Anthony Potkonicky, Gina Ricciardi, John Rowland and Dean Sarris.

Donald P. Pipino Memorial Scholarships were awarded to Jason Dallies, Emily Ellway, Korey Kihm, Brandon Malahtaris, Olivia Swarthout and Mariah Vincent.

For more than a half century, Cafaro, his wife, Alyce, and his brother, John A. Cafaro, supported churches, schools, hospitals and other charitable causes.

Since its inception in 1996, the Cafaro Foundation has awarded millions of dollars in grants to organizations and individuals.
