YOUNGSTOWN — A city man and woman were in stable condition in St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital on Thursday after the man was shot in the leg and the woman was shot in the stomach.

A witness told police the man, woman and witness were near the sidewalk on Lauderdale Avenue on the North Side at 12:17 a.m. when a white Chrysler 300 went past and someone inside fired a gun at them.

The vehicle continued straight, and the person continued to fire at buildings after it passed, the witness said.

Officers inspected the vehicle used to bring the victims to the hospital and found one bullet hole in the front of the hood, and the driver’s side window was shattered.
