Free food bank distributions slated

LISBON – Second Harvest Food Bank of the Mahoning Valley is collaborating with Beaver Local Schools in Columbiana County to host a traveling food pantry distribution starting 11 a.m. June 4.

The food will be distributed at Beaver Local High School.

The food bank and members of the Ohio National Guard are prepared to serve more than 500 families. The distribution includes meat, fresh fruit and vegetables.

Another distribution is set for 11 a.m. today in front of Mollenkopf Stadium in Warren. This giveway also is sponsored by Second Harvest, the Ohio National Guard and Warren City Schools. The line will form on Laird Avenue NE near the baseball field.

In order to partake in these zero-contact distribution, your trunk must be open and clear of all other belongings and your windows must be rolled up. Recipients are not to exit their vehicle for any reason.

The traveling food pantry is a new program of Second Harvest, operating as a direct result of the COVID-19 pandemic to help meet the increased need.

The pantry will make its next Trumbull County stop 11 a.m. Monday at Maplewood High School in Mecca. Additional dates and locations are being planned for the summer months.
