YOUNGSTOWN -- Gregory Richardson, 35, of East Avondale Avenue, was arraigned Friday in Youngstown Municipal Court on three felony charges connected to a Tuesday crash on Market Street.
He faces charges of tampering with evidence, failure to comply and receiving stolen property, plus several traffic violations.
Police said they spotted Richardson in a stolen Lincoln Town Car on Market Street near Hillman Avenue around 12:45 a.m. Tuesday, according to a police report. Richardson sped up and fled onto West Ravenwood and several other streets at speeds reaching 65 miles per hour until he crashed into a car on Market Street near St. Louis and crashed into a utility pole. One of the vehicles then hit a tractor trailer in the parking lot of the Family Dollar store, the police report states.
Richardson got out of the car and fled, but he tripped and was arrested. Police confiscated a glass pipe from Richardson and placed it on the ground. Richardson then stomped on the pipe, shattering it, police said.
Youngstown firefighters used an extraction tool to remove a female from one of the vehicles involved, and an ambulance took her to St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital.
Firefighters likewise extracted two people from another vehicle, and they also went to the hospital. Richardson also was taken to the hospital after he stated he had a neck injury.
Police found a bag of suspected cocaine in the stolen vehicle.
