BOARDMAN — The township has changed the application process for open positions on the fire department because of COVID-19 restrictions and will not be giving the civil service examination as planned.

The entry level firefighter position pays $30,800 annually plus benefits. Applications are available on the township website at www.boardmantwp.com or via email request at boardmancivilservice@gmail.com until April 17. Completed applications will be accepted starting Tuesday from 9 a.m. to noon and 2 to 4 p.m. weekdays until April 17 at the fire department, 7440 Market St.

Applicants also may submit an application with a photocopy of picture identification with a notarized signature to boardmancivilservice@gmail.com

Persons who want to drop off their application in person can text 330-540-8204 with their name to say they are in the parking lot. A representative from the Boardman Civil Service Commission will provide further instructions.

An online entry level examination will be 6 to 8 p.m. April 28. A laptop or desktop computer are required, and tablets are not acceptable.
