Blessed Sacrament pastor resigns effective immediately
WARREN — After a year-and-a-half as pastor at Blessed Sacrament Parish in Warren, the Rev. Peter Haladej has submitted his resignation, effective today.
Haladej started at the church in August 2018 after having served nine years as pastor at Holy Trinity Parish in East Liverpool, associate pastor at St. Christine in Youngstown for two years and associate pastor at St. Rose in Girard for five years.
The Rev. Msgr. John Zuraw, chancellor of the Diocese of Youngstown, said Tuesday Haladej resigned for personal reasons.
Zuraw said an administrator will be appointed to Blessed Sacrament shortly to oversee the parish. He said this spring and summer, there will be other parish openings where Haladej could be assigned.
Haladej studied at seminaries in Czechoslovakia and at St. Vincent Seminary in Latrobe, Pa. Haladej grew up in Slovakia and then moved in 1997 to Anchorage, Alaska, and in 1999 to Youngstown. In 1997, he did a pastoral year while he was studying and in 1999 came to Youngstown at the request of the Diocese of Youngstown because of a priest shortage.
Haladej replaced the Rev. Thomas Eisweirth, who retired from Blessed Sacrament in July 2018.
