Military banners to honor loved ones

STRUTHERS — The Struthers Historical Society, with the city’s cooperation, will be offering military banners to honor loved ones who served in the military.

Residents may purchase a military honor banner that will be displayed on the city lamp posts and poles during Memorial Day, Independence Day and Veterans Day.

The banner design will feature a loved one’s name, photograph, branch of service, years of service and the war or conflict in which he or she served.

The honoree may be living or deceased and must have been a current or past resident of the city or village of Struthers.

A copy of a military photo is preferred as it will not be returned. The photo may be in color or black and white, 3-by-5 inches or larger in size. Digital photos require a high resolution. If a military photo is not available, other options are available.

Each banner will cost $125 and will hang for three years during the noted holidays with option to renew.

For more information, visit www.struthershistorical society.com where an application can be downloaded. Applications will also be available at the mayor’s office and at the Struthers Historical Society.
