Georgetown banquet center closes in Boardman

Staff report

BOARDMAN — The Georgetown, 5945 South Ave., a longtime banquet hall, is closed.

Management of the facility announced “a new chapter” on social media. Also, its statement is the only available option on the business website.

Since 1975, the banquet center has served the Mahoning Valley, hosting many wedding receptions and other events. The choice to close comes after ownership made some personal decisions including retirement and new challenges.

The Georgetown declined further comment on Tuesday.

“Since 1975 it has been our honor to have served this great community and so many wonderful families. We cherish all the memories that we have shared with you over these many years. We are grateful for the support you have given us for nearly half a century. Our family and dedicated employees worked hard to provide the best food and service possible and to treat every client like they were a member of our family.

“After 45 years, the time has come for a new chapter in our lives. It is time for my father to retire and for me to embark on a new challenge.” The statement goes on to mention Armida’s Cucina, a concession and wholesale food manufacturing and distribution company, and stuffed hot peppers.

It concludes: “…we will keep you posted of all the new and exciting things coming in the near future…”
