Youngstown schools CEO seeks information for strategic plan

YOUNGSTOWN — Information from a series of meetings being sponsored by Youngstown City Schools CEO Justin Jennings is expected to be used in the formation of the district’s strategic plan.

“This is a pivotal point for our school district,” Jennings said. “We’re developing a plan that will frame the future of the district for years to come and we want to ensure our staff and our community have a voice in what that future looks like.”

Meetings with the staff of each of the district’s schools will begin on Feb. 3. Participation is voluntary.

A community town hall meeting is scheduled from 5 to 6 p.m. Feb. 25 in the Commons of Choffin Career and Technical Center, 200 E. Wood St.

“My plan is to ask each participant to complete a Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats analysis for school district,” Jennings said. “That will provide me with an idea of what our staff and our community believe we do well and where improvements need to be made.”

Results of a Community Priorities Survey of staff, students, families and the community, which runs through today, and is posted on the district’s website, www.ycsd.org, will provide information for Jennings’ strategic plan as well.

The CEO Chat sessions scheduled for the morning and afternoon of Feb. 25 have been canceled.
