Youngstown resident faces weapons offense
YOUNGSTOWN — Willie Wilkins, 51, of Connecticut Avenue, was arraigned Tuesday in Youngstown Municipal Court on carrying a concealed weapon after being questioned in connection to a Sunday night store robbery.
Police were responding to the robbery of the CVS pharmacy on Mahoning Avenue when an officer spotted Wilkins at 9:12 p.m. on North Hartford Avenue, walking away from the store, which had been robbed about 9 p.m. His clothing was similar to the description of what the robber wore, police said.
Wilkins told officers that he had just come from a store on Mahoning Avenue. Wilkins told the officer he had a handgun in his pocket and did not have a concealed carry license, a police report states.
Another officer secured the handgun, and Wilkins was charged with carrying a concealed weapon and taken to the Mahoning County Justice Center, the police report states.
