Youngstown man, 22, gets eight years
YOUNGSTOWN — Kevin Silver, 22, of Lakeview Avenue was sentenced to eight years in prison Wednesday for breaking into an ex-girlfriend’s house on Sanderson Avenue in Campbell, choking her, then leading police on a chase later that day.
Police say Silver broke in through the basement, charged up the steps toward the woman and choked her until she fell unconscious. As she regained consciousness, he continued to attack her, police said.
A friend in the house helped her escape and run to a neighbor’s for help. Police said the woman, 26, had cuts on her face. Her child, 8, and the other woman were not injured.
Silver left before police arrived but returned later while the victim was at the hospital. Police spotted Silver’s vehicle and tried to question him, but Silver drove away, leading police on a chase that reached speeds of more than 130 miles per hour.
Silver also broke through an Ohio Turnpike barrier on Interstate 76 and went through another turnpike barrier as he crossed into Pennsylvania, police said. The pursuit was called off, but the Ohio State Highway Patrol later apprehended him.
