Woman from Campbell crowned Miss Ohio USA 2020
A 2012 graduate of Campbell Memorial High School and resident of that city is Miss Ohio USA 2020.
Stephanie Miranda, 26, won the title on Saturday night at Matthews Auditorium in Sharonville.
She was previously named Miss Ohio Latina 2013, Miss Ohio International 2015 and Miss Latino America in 2018.
Miranda, who was born in Puerto Rico, will now represent the Buckeye State against 50 other contestants in the Miss USA 2020 competition, which will be shown next spring on the Fox television network. The winner of the Miss USA pageant will go on to the Miss Universe competition.
Campbell Mayor Nick Phillips recognized Miranda’s accomplishment with a post on social media.
“On behalf of the city of Campbell, I would like to take this opportunity to personally congratulate Miss Stephanie Miranda on being crowned Miss Ohio,” Phillips wrote.
“Look out Miss USA, Campbell Ohio is In the House!”
Miranda moved to Campbell from Puerto Rico when she was 5.
The new Miss Ohio, who was first runner-up in the Miss Ohio competition in 2017, said she wants to use her position to heighten awareness of Alzheimer’s disease, in honor of her grandmother.
She earned a bachelor of arts in communications from Youngstown State University in June 2018. In an interview after becoming Miss Latino America, Miranda said she hopes to work as on-air talent on an entertainment news program. She has a minor in journalism. In that same interview, she said volunteering is an important aspect of her life, working with Youngstown CityScape, the Alzheimer’s Association and schools in Cleveland.
Two separate competitions took place Saturday night in Sharonville. Miss Ohio 2019 Alice Magoto crowned Miranda, while the newly crowned Miss Teen Ohio 2020 is Lily McLaughlin of Greenwich.
