Johnson files for Congress re-election

LISBON — U.S. Rep. Bill Johnson filed nominating petitions to seek re-election to his sixth 2-year term in Congress.

Johnson, R-Marietta, represents the 18-county 6th Congressional District that includes the southern portion of Mahoning and all of Columbiana.

He is the only candidate as of Friday to file for the seat. Dec. 18 is the deadline to file.

Johnson said he is running to continue his push for a smaller, more effective, efficient and transparent federal government.
