Youngstown schools CEO finalizes monthly meetings

Staff report

YOUNGSTOWN — Youngstown City Schools CEO Justin Jennings wants families and the community to know what’s happening in the district, and plans to have several monthly meetings to share information and hear about what needs to improve.

His monthly update meetings will be the second Wednesday of each month, beginning Oct. 9, at noon in the Community Room at 20 W. Wood St. These will be open to everyone.

“I talk a lot about transparency and I mean it,” Jennings said. “I understand how important it is in building relationships and establishing trust in the community.”

He also plans to meet with members of the faith-based community the second Tuesday of each month at 8 a.m. in the CEO Office at 20 W. Wood St.

On the fourth Tuesday of each month, he plans sessions in the morning and afternoon with parents / guardians and community members.

The morning meetings will be at 8 a.m., and the afternoon meetings will be at 4:30 p.m., both in the CEO Office.

“I’m looking forward to hearing from parents and community members to answer their questions and to learn about their concerns,” he said.

To keep the morning and afternoon gatherings more intimate, participation at each session will be limited to the first 12 people who call the CEO’s executive assistant at 330-744-6920 and ask to be added to the list.

Attempts will be made to allow all who want to participate to attend at least one of the sessions.
