Ursuline explores ‘digital wellness’

YOUNGSTOWN– November is “Digital Wellness Month” at Ursuline High School.

Ursuline students and parents will take part in a variety of wellness initiatives involving the healthy use of social media and technology consumption. An activity is planned for each of the four weeks of November focusing on a different piece of wellness.

Students and parents will learn social media etiquette and sign an optional pledge to have device-free dinner as a family using the hashtag #Ursulinedevicefreedinner.

At 9 a.m. Nov. 4, Josh Ochs, a former Disney digital marketing director, will speak to students about how to use their devices for a purpose not a pastime. Later at 6:30 p.m., Ochs will speak to parents about social media and technology consumption.

Louise Kotel of Alta Community Counseling will talk to parents at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 20 at the UHS Library on the mental health impact of increased social media and technology usage.
