School gets 2,000 pairs of socks

STRUTHERS — All month long Struthers Middle School is participating in Socktober, an annual fundraising event that takes place during October.

Students in Amber Bonilla’s class collect new socks to donate to local shelters. Her class recently received a 2,000-count sock donation from Bombas, a sock company. Each pair of Bombas socks is valued at $12, which means the company gave the school a donation valued at $24,000.

Her class is also receiving recognition 11 a.m. Oct. 29 from Ricky Smith, founder of Random Act of Kindness Everywhere, for all the kindness her resource room class has displayed.

“When he arrives, we are donating to him over almost 150 new toothbrushes, travel-size toothpaste, winter gloves, and … hope packages for his RAKE charities in Cleveland,” Bonilla said.
