Humane Society gets abused dog
AUSTINTOWN — A malnourished boxer dog was surrendered to the Animal Humane Society after a neighbor complained about the dog’s condition.
The dog, taken from a home in the 2000 block of Woodland Trace on Saturday afternoon, was emaciated and dehydrated, according to an Austintown police report. The animal’s owners told police that the boxer had a disease but had not seen a vet in years.
Police described the animal as having white gums — a sign of dehydration, and visible ribs. Police checked the basement, where the boxer was sometimes kept in a cage, and found fecal matter and urine stains in the cage.
No charges have been filed.
