Canfield High gets grant for laptops
CANFIELD — Canfield High School received a Connect for Success grant from Mobile Beacon to provide internet access and laptops for students who need additional time to complete homework in school or at home.
The grant provides 25 laptops and 25 mobile hotspots with free, unlimited 4G LTE internet service for 12 months. When the grant period ends, the school will keep the computers and have the option to continue the internet service.
Today 70 percent of teachers assign homework that requires internet access. Superintendent Alex Geordan said: “We are thrilled to receive the Connect for Success Grant. This grant will help close the homework gap in our high school for students in need of internet access or a laptop.”
Mobile Beacon provides high-speed, low-cost, mobile internet access to nonprofits, schools, libraries, and healthcare organizations.
