Campbell woman faces child-endangering charge

CAMPBELL — Nichelle N. Moore, 44, of Hamrock Drive, was charged with domestic violence and child endangering Tuesday after a teenager told Campbell school officials that Moore had verbally and physically abused her over the past couple of months.

A police report says Moore works at a New Castle day care center.

The girl said Moore punched her in the left side of her face with a closed fist three times in a row and smacked her across the face for not cleaning her room properly Sunday evening. The girl had swelling on her face.

She said Moore makes her get on her knees before she is punished and that it happens every day. Moore has also choked her and slammed her head against a wall, the girl told police.

Campbell police contacted Mahoning County Children Services, and the girl was removed from the home, along with two other children. Moore was arrested that evening at her home and taken to the Mahoning County Justice Center. She told police she did not know punching the girl was “considered abuse.” She believed it was discipline, she told police, according to a report.
