Boardman school bus driver seeks state title in Road-E-O
Staff report
BOARDMAN — Boardman school bus driver Laurie Woolley will compete against drivers from across Ohio for the title of State School Bus Road-E-O winner.
Woolley, a certified on-board instructor and trainer and 16-year school bus driving veteran at Boardman Local Schools, placed among the Top 6 drivers in the Northeast Ohio region for the Ohio School bus Safety Road-E-O on Oct. 5 at Kenston High School in Chagrin Falls.
The Road-E-O is an annual competitive contest that tests school bus drivers’ skills, abilities and knowledge of their jobs.
It includes a written test and a driving competition on an obstacle-type course.
“Laurie is very actively involved in teaching our students about bus safety during the school year. She goes above and beyond in her job duties and truly loves her job as a school bus driver,” said transportation director Ryan Dunn.
“In addition to driving her regular route every day, she helps train other drivers in our department as well as at other schools. We are very proud of Laurie for her dedication to Boardman schools and all she brings to our transportation department,” Dunn added.
