Suspect in biting case deemed competent for trial
YOUNGSTOWN — Clifford A. Atkinson, 43, who is accused of biting and punching a Mahoning County sheriff’s deputy, has been ruled competent to stand trial in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court.
Judge R. Scott Krichbaum ruled on his competency Tuesday and states an unspecified trial date in October will be set. He is facing charges of assault, arson and intimdation.
