Canfield considers change in zoning for sales of autos

CANFIELD — Allowing car sales along East Main Street was among the issues addressed at Wednesday’s city council meeting, during which a zoning ordinance addressing it had a first reading and a public hearing was set for 5:30 p.m. July 15. The issue came about after a business owner requested a zone change for the B3 district. YOUNGSTOWN — The board of control will vote Thursday on contracts for appraisals of the two remaining parcels the city doesn’t own at the dormant Chill-Can site as well as the former Anthony’s on the River property. The city owns all of the Chill-Can property but those two parcels, which are in the possession of Mitchell Joseph, the head of M.J. Joseph Development Corp. and its sister companies. YOUNGSTOWN — City council agreed to pay up to $130,000 to a law firm for a study that will offer long-term solutions for SOBE Thermal Energy Systems LLC, a troubled utility company that provides steam heat to a majority of downtown buildings.
